Plain language on purpose. If something here is unclear, ask — it means it's badly written, not that you missed something.
It exists so people who love books can find each other close to home — to lend, swap, sell, or just talk about what they’re reading. A shelf here is a person, not inventory.
BookHome is an independent project, built and run by one person. It is not a registered company. There are no investors, no ads, and no commission — BookHome never touches your money. When you write in, you are writing to the person who built it.
BookHome introduces people. It does not stand behind them.
BookHome is for adults. You may not create an account if you are under 18. This isn’t a formality: the service shows people roughly where other members are and encourages them to meet in person, and that is not something to put in front of a child.
If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we will delete it and its data.
You keep ownership of your photos and words. By posting them you allow BookHome to display them to other members — that is all, and only for as long as you keep them up.
Don’t post:
Content that breaks these rules can be removed, and the account behind it suspended, without notice.
BookHome is not a party to anything that happens between members.
We do not verify identity, inspect books, guarantee anyone turns up, handle payments, or settle disputes. We are not an agent, broker, or insurer of any exchange, and we hold no money at any point. Whatever you agree — price, place, time, condition — is between the two of you.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, BookHome and its operator accept no liability for any loss, injury, damage, or dispute arising from contact between members, online or in person. Every arrangement you make is your own decision and your own risk. Please read Safety Basics before meeting anyone.
Nothing here removes rights under Indian law that cannot be waived by agreement.
Ratings come only from exchanges both people marked complete. To make them mean something, repeated trades with the same person count once rather than stacking, and a score stays cautious until several different people have rated you.
Arranging fake exchanges to inflate a rating — your own or someone else’s — will get every account involved removed.
You can delete your account whenever you like, and your listings and posts go with it. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms or puts other members at risk.
BookHome is a personal project offered as-is, with no promise that it will stay available, keep every feature, or preserve your data forever. Keep your own copy of anything you would be sorry to lose.
If these terms change in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and you’ll be told in the app. Continuing to use BookHome after that means you accept the new version.
Questions, or something to report? Use Send feedback at the bottom of any page, or write to hello@bookhome.in. Either way it reaches the person who built BookHome.
BookHome is at the very start, and these pages will keep changing. If something here reads wrong, or you think it should say something different, say so — it’s early enough that suggestions actually change what’s written.
